Our story

Our Story

A sibling-run, Filipino-American coffeehouse the neighborhood built by hand — where coffee, community and creative culture all tie back to family.

The name

Kapétid — coffee & sibling

Our in-house roaster is named Kapétid: kape (coffee) + kapatid (sibling). It says the whole thing in one word — this is a family venture, and every detail, from Millie’s to Kapétid, ties back to that. We’re Filipino-American, and we pour the flavors we grew up on — calamansi, ube, pandan, coconut — alongside seriously good coffee.

Built together

A room the neighborhood built

Millie’s was crowdfunded into being — a community that wanted “a space designed for connection.” A co-owner painted the coffee-plant mural that climbs the back wall. There are monsteras and thrifted armchairs, art everywhere, and couches made for staying.

What we stand for

Coffee · Community · Creative Culture

We want Millie’s to be a home for community, creativity and connection — a warm, leafy, all-are-welcome corner of Astoria. Sink into a couch, order a drink in real glass, make something, meet someone. Salamat for being here.
